Established in the Rioja Oriental sub-zone of Rioja, deAlto is an unconventional producer of brilliant wines that aim to maximize the fruit potential of this great region. Responding to the need for a more sustainable future, only the best grapes are harvested to produce deAlto wines are crafted by a team, led by Master of Wine Giles Cooke. Having established a reputation for making some of Australia’s finest expressions of Grenache, Giles Cooke MW is now coming full circle to utilize his experience in the region that he first fell in love with. With such a deep reserve of old vine Garnacha, the wines of deAlto focus on this variety with judicious use of old vine Tempranillo. Eschewing the conventional criteria in favour of a pursuit of peace and purity, these wines are founded on fruit quality and respectful, low-intervention winemaking. Using that same spirit of adventure, experimentation, creativity, and commitment to sustainable wine production; deAlto embraces a family of wines from across the country. Drawing on the revered, in-depth knowledge of Paul Shinnie and the technical skills of Marta Juega Rivera, the wines of deAlto offer a tantalizing taste of contemporary Spain.
